Centuries ago, Gyunabe (the old name for Sukiyaki) was one of the most beloved dishes among Edokko (natives of downtown Tokyo), renowned for its unique and sensational taste. As demand grew for savoring this flavor not only at restaurants but also at home, Asakusa Imahan created the Beef Sukiyaki Tsukudani, beef boiled down in our signature sauce. Introduced in 1945, this Tsukudani soon became popular nationwide, as it allowed enthusiasts beyond Edokko to prepare the taste of Gyunabe in their own kitchens. To this day, Asakusa Imahan’s Beef Tsukudani remains our signature product, highly sought after for gifts and pairing well with sake or rice.
