The founder Hantaro Takaoka
The appearance of Imahan restrant from the beginning of Taisho-era
1895 April
Founder Hantaro Takaoka left Okayama prefecture and relocated to Tokyo where he opened a Gyu-meshi (old name for Sukiyaki) restaurant in Honjo-Azumabashi.

1913 June
2nd generation Koji Takaoka opened the Imahan restaurant in Asakusa Kaminarimon with his distant relative, Hantaro Aizawa.

Asakusa Imahan Head Restrant in 1928
1928 March
The restaurant became independent, newly named Asakusa Imahan which opened at its present location.
1931 April
Asakusa Imahan was established as the Imahan Limited Liability Company.
The Third Motoichi Takaoka
1945 January
Imahan began producing and selling Beef Tsukudani (beef boiled down in our signature sauce) goods.
Asakusa Imahan Nihonbashi Branch Restrant in 1953
1953
Asakusa Imahan Nihonbashi branch opened (later branched out to be a separate company).
1954
The Tsukudani shop opened its doors at Ginza Matsuzakaya. Following its success, the Tsukudani shops have since expanded to numerous department stores throughout Tokyo.
1955 January
Gyu-don (Japanese beef rice bowl) was invented.
1956 March
Imahan Limited Liability Company changed to Imahan Co. Ltd.
The Fourth Emiko Takaoka
1966 December
4th generation Emiko Takaoka was appointed as the president of Asakusa Imahan.
1982 March
The position was then passed down to 5th generation Shuichi Takaoka who became Asakusa Imahan’s newly appointed president.
1982 June
Asakusa Imahan received the Excellent Corporation Award.
Asakusa Imahan Funabashi-Factory
1982 July
The Funabashi factory office building was completed.
1988 October
Asakusa Imahan received the excellent corporation award.
<Heisei-era>
1989 November
Formerly operating as Imahan Co.Ltd., the Kokusai Street Head Restaurant became independent and rebranded as Takahan Co. Ltd.
Win the excellent corporation award from Asakusa Tax office (Win for the sixth time)
1993 June
Asakusa Imahan received the Excellent Corporation Award.
1995 January
Asakusa Imahan Orange Street branch restaurant opened.
1995 April
Asakusa Imahan celebrated its 100th anniversary.
1998 June
Asakusa Imahan received the Excellent Corporation Award.
2002 June
Asakusa Imahan Bento Studio opened in Asakusa.
2005 May
Asakusa Imahan received the Excellent Corporation Award.
Asakusa Imahan Kokusai street Head Restrant (opened in October 2008)
2008 October
Grand opening of the newly built “Asakusa Imahan Kokusai street Head Restaurant”.
2010 April
Asakusa Imahan celebrated its 115th anniversary.
2010 June
Asakusa Imahan received the Excellent Corporation Award.
2015 April
Asakusa Imahan celebrated its 120th anniversary.
2020 April
Asakusa Imahan celebrated its 125th anniversary.
